David DeHorn

President, Oakland Capital Solutions

Dave joined the Oakland team in early 2025 to help launch Oakland Capital Solutions and to serve as the company’s President.

Dave began his career on Wall Street and spent nearly twenty years at Lehman Brothers in New York and Barclays in London. During this time, he held various roles in credit structuring, trading, and risk management, and became a Managing Director while working closely with OCP Principals Peter Benoist and Dan Crowley to build and manage successful credit trading businesses. In 2022, he transitioned from Wall Street to become Chief Strategy Officer at NYSE-listed DOMA, where he sat on the Executive Committee and played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s vision, driving strategic initiatives, and leading multiple M&A transactions. Building on this experience, Dave helped co-found OCS, bringing with him deep expertise in capital markets, strategy, and leadership.

He holds a M.S. in Financial Engineering from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Northwestern University.

Darren Van’t Hof ​

Principal, Oakland Capital Solutions​

Darren joined the Oakland team in 2025 as a Principal.  He is a nationally recognized thought leader in the renewable energy sector and brings over twenty years of executive leadership experience in both project finance and tax equity.

Darren’s career started in real estate, with a wide focus on project development, operations, and tax equity.  In 2004, Darren joined US Bank, where he established a renewable energy investment platform that grew into one of the nation’s largest in tax equity and project finance.  Darren also pioneered financing structures for large-scale tax equity investments across several energy sectors and he was instrumental in developing a secondary market for renewable energy tax equity. Throughout his tenure at US Bank, Darren held several leadership positions while supporting a range of strategic initiatives. 

He holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and presently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA). 

Dan Crowley ​

Principal, Oakland Capital Partners

Dan has been with the Oakland team since early 2024 and is the primary OCP Principal supporting OCS.

Dan began his career over twenty-five years ago with Lehman Brothers and eventually transitioned to Barclays, where he rose to become Head of the Global Distressed Credit business. In 2018, Dan joined BNP Paribas as Head of Americas Credit Trading, later also becoming Head of Global Flow Credit Trading. Immediately prior to joining Oakland Capital Partners, Dan was Head of Flow Credit Trading and Distressed Products Group Americas at Deutsche Bank. Dan has extensive experience across financial markets, risk management, corporate restructuring, human capital management and business planning and strategy.

He holds a B.S. in Marketing from Boston College and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan. Dan served with fellow OCP Principal Peter Benoist on the Board of EASiBuy from 2016 until its sale in 2021.

Peter Benoist, Jr.

Managing Principal and Co-Founder, Oakland Capital Partners​

Peter co-founded Oakland Capital Partners in 2016 and remains OCP’s Managing Principal.

Peter is a former Wall Street executive with more than 15 years of experience analyzing and investing in debt and equity securities. Throughout his career, he managed trading businesses with multi-billion dollar balance sheets consisting of corporate debt, equity, trade claims and derivatives and has extensive experience in Capital Markets, Risk Management and Financial Structuring. Peter began his career in 2001 with Salomon Smith Barney which later became Citigroup in their Leveraged Loan Trading Group. In 2007 he was hired by Deutsche Bank as Managing Director, Head of Loan Trading Americas and in 2010 was hired by Barclays PLC as Managing Director, Head of US Distressed Trading.

He holds a B.A. in Finance from Miami University in Oxford, OH and received an M.B.A from Washington University in St. Louis. Peter served on the Board of Directors of EASiBuy, a reverse auction software company, which was acquired by a division of HCA Healthcare in 2021. Currently, Peter sits on the Board of the Finite Corporation, a sustainability focused asset manager and serves as Chairman of the Board at Beyond Housing, a community development organization based in St. Louis.

Mike Amann ​

Principal and Co-Founder, Oakland Capital Partners​

Mike co-founded Oakland Capital Partners in 2016 and continues to serve as a Principal of OCP.

Mike began his professional career by joining AG Industries, his family’s diversified healthcare products business, on the factory floor. Over the next 15 years, he went on to learn every aspect of the enterprise, eventually serving as its President and CEO. During his tenure, Mike gained valuable experience in manufacturing, quality control systems, business development, and strategic planning in a complex, highly-regulated, international business.  Under his leadership, the company experienced rapid organic and acquisition-based growth which ultimately led to a successful exit.  Throughout his career, Mike has been heavily involved in new product design and the launch of successful go-to-market strategies. 

He holds a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. Beyond his professional work, Mike is an active supporter of several mission-driven organizations, including GivePower, Loyola Academy, and The TaTa Sisterhood Foundation.

Thomas Carnahan ​

Principal, Oakland Capital Partners​

Tom joined OCP in 2019 after extensive experience in law and business across both government and private sectors.

As an attorney, Tom represented the City of Saint Louis, Missouri, as an Assistant City Counselor and later started his own law practice focused on urban redevelopment and business counseling. He later founded Wind Capital Group and became a leading developer, owner and operator of utility-scale wind farms in U.S. Midwest. In 2021, Tom was given a presidential appointment to serve as Representative of the United States to the 76th United Nations General Assembly.

He holds a B.A. in International Relations from William Jewell College and a J.D. from The University of Missouri. Tom is a Commissioner of the St. Louis Art Museum and a Member of The Explorer’s Club.
